Developed in the mid-1960s, the modern tank car replaced heavily riveted tank bodies with smooth, welded aluminum, stainless steel and carbon steel. The design of K-LINE's all new aluminum tank cars replicates the modern tank car contruction with accurate detail.
CONDITION: C-7+ Light rust and oxidation on and around wheels. Box is P-6 with rubs and creases.
Familiar expansion domes have been replaced by specialized valves, hatches and fittings tailored to suit the specific materials hauled in each car. Traditional running boards and rigid chassis have been reduced to a single rail supported by a bolster on each end. All metal details include diamond warning markers, ladders, grab rails, drain detail and prototypical catwalk, with die cast end caps and platforms. Equipped with fully-sprung die cast trucks, these modern tank cars will support even the heaviest loads.
